Betty Bischak Memorial Garden

The garden, which is located to the east of the entry walkway of the Westwood Public Library, was designed and constructed by the library staff, Westwood residents and members of the Westwood Heritage Society, under the guidance of Peter Condon (a local landscaper), on Saturday & Sunday, October 14-15, 1995 as a part of the library's reconstruction project.
[Betty Bischak Memorial Garden]
The Library Broad of Trustees decided to name this perennial garden The Betty Bischak Memorial Garden to honor the memory of Betty Bischak, who was the children's librarian for more than 20 years.
The dedication of the Betty Bischak Memorial Garden and the unveiling of the Memorial Plaque was held on Saturday, September 12, 1998.
[Betty Bischak Memorial Plaque]      The funding for the Betty Bischak Memorial Plaque (indicated by the red arrow above) was provided by The Westwood Heritage Society,  and members of the Society handled the installation of the base and the mounting of the memorial plaque.

The inscription on the plaque reads:

Betty Bischak Garden
Beloved Children's Librarian
From 1971 - 1993

The nurturing of the garden
honors her dedication to nurturing
the love of reading in children
